Fourcas Dupré

The Wines of Chateau Fourcas Dupré, Bordeaux, France

Situated in the heart of the Médoc, vines have been growing at ‘Fourcas’ since the 18th century. Fourcas Dupré took its name in 1843, when attorney Jean Antoine Dupré became its owner. Since 1970, the Pagès Family has continued in the same tradition: attention to detail, know-how and passion. By maintining hig quality standards, Fourcas Dupré, has become known amongst the press and top international critics and connoisseurs throughout the world.

The whole domaine is classified as AOC Listrac Médoc, one of the 6 Haut-Médoc appellations.

Chateau Fourcas Dupré has a single 46 ha vineyard which is composed of more than 80% ‘graves pyreneennes’ (Pyrenean gravel) with a subsoil of clay, chalk and limestone.

Four grape varieties are grown, Cabernet Sauvignon (44%), Merlot (44%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The average age of the vines is over 30 years and the density of the planting is 8300 per hectare.

The terrior of ‘graves pyreneennes’ is unique to the Médoc, and gives Fourcas Dupré wines individual characteristics: minerality, smokiness, toasty notes on the finish and a wonderful ability to mature.

The Wines

Chateau Bellevue Laffont 2009 Chateau Bellevue Laffont 2009
Chateau Bellevue Laffont has played an integral part in the estate since 1973. It develops earlier than Chateau Fourcas Dupré and is ready to drink within 3-5 years. The vinification is at low temperatures to accentuate its fruity, velvetiness. A hugely pleasurable wine.
Chateau Fourcas Dupré 2005 Chateau Fourcas Dupré 2005
This ‘Grand Vin’ dark in colour with shades of ruby, shows complexity and minerality. It has personality that develops to an intense well balanced and velvet wine. Over time, its soft elegant tannins give the wine an exceptional harmony and balance. Ageing 5-25 years.
