Château d’Anglès
Terroir de la Clape, South of France.
We are delighted to offer the outstanding wines from the stunning Château d’Anglès Estate which overlooks the Mediterranean from the unique Terroir de La Clape in the South of France.
Hailed as the new Provence in terms of tourism, the Languedoc's reputation for fine and elegant wines is also growing fast, and others too have recognised the exceptional qualities of the exclusive Terroir de la Clape.
The Château d’Anglès enjoys ideal wine growing conditions. The vines bask in 300 days of sunshine and benefit from the sea's cool breezes. And it is the surrounding vegetation of the ‘garrigue’, including pines, thyme, rosemary, juniper and the aromatic plants which contribute the aromas that give the wines of the Terroir de La Clape their specifically Mediterranean flavour.
The Estate is owned and the wines made, by the renowned winemaker Eric Fabre, who spent 8 years as Technical Director at Château Lafite Rothschild and a further 6 years at Chateau La Cardonne which he took from a lesser known Médoc label to the highest accolades in that time. Judging by the awards and medals now being showered on the wines, it is clear that Eric Fabre is now being justly rewarded at Château d’Anglès.
Although these wines were only introduced to the UK in 2006, they are already being recognised for their exceptional quality and value. They have won a clutch of medals; from the IWSC and Decanter WWA amongst others.

Château d’Anglès produces two ranges of wines, both crafted with the same concern for excellence.
Coteaux du Languedoc
Expressive, fresh and fruity.
Red 2006
A blend of Syrah and Grenache showing a deep red colour with black highlights. The aroma evokes red fruit flavours and blackcurrant and also pepper and liquorice. Full bodied wine, with smooth and delicate tannins. This red will complement all red meat and cold meat platters.
White 2006
A wine that blends four varieties for more complexity. The pale yellow aspect reveals an elegant bouquet of rose, acacia and spices. Lively and balanced, the wine will complement grilled fish with fennel or sauce, grills and white meats and is perfect with a warm goats cheese starter or special dishes like sushi and bouillabaisse.
Rosé 2008
A blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache, it has a brilliant ‘pink flamingo’ colour. Intense peachy, citrus and raspberry aromas with a very fresh, long and complex aromatic composition of white flowers and a dash of minerality on the palate. Delicious with all summer food, pre-dinner drinks and long summer nights...
Terroir de la Clape
Complex, structured and barrel-aged.
Red 2006
Old vines from a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Deep red colour with hints of black. Complex and full bodied bouquet with a blend of red and black jammy fruits, vanilla, liquorice and earthy flavours and notes of chocolate/toffee. Fleshy, balanced and structured with lovely freshness and firm silky tannins. Delicious with game, red meat or a good cheese board. 3 Gold medals, including one from Decanter World Wine Awards 2007.
White 2005/06
Made from Bourboulenc, Grenache, Roussanne and Marsanne old vines. Pale yellow with golden highlights. Rich and complex nose, with a blend of white fruits, spices and warm brioche flavours. Mouth-filling, structured and buttery taste with an aromatic intensity and a long, fresh finish. Terrific as an aperitif with dry cured ham and marinated sardines. Or fish, veal or poultry in sauce and marvellous with a chocolate desert. Very impressive wine!
