Champagne Autréau

Champagne Autreau
The Family and the Wines

The Autreau Family have been involved in growing grapes and producing Champagne since 1670. Based in the picturesque village of Champillon, near Epernay.

The current generation, led by Eric Autreau, maintain the family tradition of producing quality Champagnes from the best grapes from both their own vineyards and those they source on long term contracts from all the best villages in the region.

All their wines are produced and aged in their cellars on the edge of the village overlooking the region’s best vineyards on the slopes of the Montagne de Rheims and with views of the Abbey at Hautvilliers, the Marne valley and the historic City of Epernay.

The Wines

Autreau Roualet Brut NV
Classically made Champagne: a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier produced in the family’s cellars and aged for at least 18 months prior to disgorgement. The Pinot Meunier gives body and roundness while the Pinot Noir adds rich fruit and a mouthfilling style. A lively mousse, fresh balanced taste and delicacy consistently display the house style.

Autreau 1er Cru Brut
Predominantly a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with some Chardonnay. Pinot Meunier gives the blend body and roundness while the Pinot Noir adds the rich fruit and mouthfilling style. With Chardonnay’s fresh acidity this all combines to give a very fresh style of Champagne that can be drunk on all occasions.

Autreau 1er Cru Rosé
This Rosé has a minimum 3 years ageing and is characterised by the delicacy of the Chardonnay and the red fruit aromas and flavours of the Pinot Noir. Salmon pink in colour with a lively mousse, elegance and freshness. A perfect aperitif or with Summer picnics.

Autreau Grand Cru 2003
Made from a blend of 50% of Pinot Noir from the Marne Valley classified as Grand Cru and 50% of Chardonnay from a Grand Cru area. It has been aged for a minimum of five years. This is a very intense and full flavoured Champagne with a floral bouquet and aromas of red berries. It is rich and round with notes of hazelnut and red fruit with a long length.

Brut Prestige Les Perles de la Dhuy Grand Cru 2002
A combination of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay selected from AŸ and Chouilly. The Champagne is bright yellow with light green and coppery red glints. The palate is intense with aromatic notes of fresh pineapple, exotic fruits, mint, verbena, rose and acacia. Overall this is a delicate, rounded and light Champagne, now in its prime.

Autreau Brut Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru
A blend of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and from the Vallée de la Marne. A lemon yellow colour with bright gold and almond green glints, a nose of ripe citrus fruits with a buttery overtone and flowery finish.

Cuvée 1670 Grand Cru Reserve 2002
Made from the best Pinot Noir (80%) and Chardonnay (20%) from the old vines of Ay and Chouilly. The deep gold colour hides many aromas of dried flowers and fruits of the forest, this is very special Champagne made to celebrate the heritage and longevity of one of the oldest Champagne houses.
